The advanced polishing agents work quickly to cut through mineral deposits and restore optical clarity without scratching or distorting the glass. This professional-grade glass polish can be applied by hand for light contamination or paired with a machine polisher and foam or felt pad for severe water spot removal and heavy restoration work.
How the Cleaner Polish Works
The cleaner polish is not a general-purpose glass cleaner. It contains three distinct active components, each performing a specific role in the preparation process.
Cerium Oxide
Cerium oxide undergoes a chemical reaction with the glass surface rather than simply removing material from it. It softens the top fifteen nanometers of the glass, generating an active reaction layer on the surface. That layer is deep enough to encompass the majority of surface defects. This soft surface that is created is the first step in the cutting phase.
Ceramic Microspheres
Once the surface begins to soften, our Ceramic microspheres perform the cutting stage. They rate at approximately 7 on the Mohs hardness scale. Glass sits between 5.5 and 6.5. That difference in hardness allows the microspheres to cut through and lift away the softened surface layer. Clearing the glass down to a micro-abraded surface and revealing hydroxyls where the coating will anchor. This hardness also means the cleaner polish must never contact painted surfaces, rubber, or trim. Mask all surrounding areas before polishing.
Proprietary Acidifiers
The third component is a non-fluorinated acidifier developed as a replacement for traditional fluoride-based glass preparations. This assists the cutting action by chemically nano etching the surface, priming the glass for the strongest possible coating adhesion.
The active cerium oxide reaction that occurs during polishing remains on the surface afterward and is a direct contributor to coating adhesion. Wiping the glass with IPA, panel prep, or any solvent-based product after polishing will degrade or remove that reaction layer and compromise the bond. The cleaner polish is the final step before the coating. The only thing to follow this step will be water, during the readiness test.
Surface Readiness Test
Prepared glass will allow water to sheet out completely flat. Any beading indicates that contamination or residual product is still present. If that occurs, complete an additional polish pass before testing again. The glass must be fully hydrophilic before completed, and especially if a coating will be applied.
